Cemetery Rules
RULES FOR PANQUIN CEMETERY
As of February 2023
1. No setting of tombstones, markers or digging of any kind without someone from the board being present. No placement or removal of markers without permission of the Board. Call Chris Clark (256-558-4469) or Doyle McBride (256-503-7012).
2. Before a burial, the funeral home must contact someone on the board. Call Clark (256-558-4469) or Doyle McBride (256-503-7012).
3. Before a burial, where there is not a tombstone already set up, a family member or representative must be present along with a board member to mark the sites for digging. Call Board Members
or Chris Clark (256-558-4469) or Doyle McBride (256-503-7012).
4. The family is responsible for:
a. After a burial, removing excess dirt, level graves and removing funeral flowers. If the family has not removed the dirt in a timely manner, the Board will ask for a donation of $50 to cover the cost.
b. Purchasing and maintaining the headstones.
c. Having the death date engraved to an existing tombstone.
d. Tombstones are not to be larger than the plots. Suggested maximum size of single tombstone no wider than 42 inches and double tombstone no wider than 72 inches.
e. Keeping the gravesite clean and neat.
f. Removing weeds on existing graves with white gravel or rock.
5. There will be no new graves using white gravel or rock on the graves.
6. Names of the deceased need to be placed on flowers either by writing with permanent marker or by tape.
7. Old flowers will be removed two weeks prior to Decoration (Decoration is the first weekend in May). Nothing is permitted on the ground during those two weeks to allow for flower removal, mowing and weed eating.
8. No ground planting live trees, shrubs or flowers. It interferes with mowing.
9. No solar lights in the cemetery. It interferes with the cemetery being policed.
10. No fences or barriers are allowed in cemetery. It interferes with mowing.
11. No loitering in the cemetery. The cemetery is policed.
12. The Board prefers no heavy machines or digging machines in the cemetery due to damage to graves.
13. No notices or advertisements of any kind shall be allowed in the cemetery.
14. Must have Minimal Grave Liner. This is to keep graves from sinking and needing maintenance.
15. No mausoleums will be allowed in the cemetery.
